Woodway Assurance congratulates its CEO, Dr. Khaled El Emam, and the Electronic Health Information Laboratory (EHIL), which he founded and leads at the CHEO Research Institute, on receiving the prestigious 2026 Privacy and Human Rights Award on July 20, 2026 from the Global Privacy Assembly, the forum for more than 130 privacy and data protection authorities worldwide, and the international human rights group Access Now.
The award recognizes more than 22 years of pioneering scientific and practical work at EHIL to enable research, care and innovation through responsible, ethical and privacy-protective data use. It also recognizes the real-world impact of that work through methods, tools, spin-off technologies and companies that help organizations put responsible data use into practice.
Woodway is proud to be one of those EHIL spin-offs. Our EviData platform builds on decades of research and experience developing and deploying privacy-enhancing technologies in real-world settings. That foundation continues to shape how Woodway helps organizations use data responsibly for AI, analytics and data sharing.
Congratulations to Dr. El Emam and everyone at EHIL on this well-deserved international recognition.
